A Tradução de Hapax Legomena Absolutos nos Salmos na Vulgata e sua Relação com o Texto Protomassorético e a Septuaginta

Resumo

RESUMO: A Bíblia Hebraica possui inúmeras ocorrências de hapax legomena absolutos e que são um autêntico desafio para qualquer tradução bíblica. Geralmente, tal situação é solucionada tendo como referência alguma ou algumas versões já existentes da Bíblia e que servem como apoio para o processo de tradução. Tal circunstância ocorreu na produção da Vulgata, considerada uma das principais versões antigas da Bíblia Hebraica. Este estudo é dedicado a analisar quinze itens lexicais que são hapax legomena absolutos, sendo registrados no texto bíblico hebraico do livro dos Salmos e como Jerônimo de Estridônia os traduziu para a Vulgata, nas versões Psalterium Gallicanum e Psalterium iuxta Hebraeos. Além do mais, este estudo aborda, ainda, como teria sido a relação da Vulgata com o Texto Protomassorético e a Septuaginta na solução de tradução das quinze unidades lexicográficas do texto bíblico hebraico que são selecionadas para este artigo.

Edson de Faria Francisco, Universidade Metodista de São Paulo (UMESP)

Edson de Faria Francisco é linguista e professor do Departamento de Bíblia da Universidade Metodista de São Paulo (UMESP), responsável pelas disciplinas Hebraico Bíblico e Grego Bíblico. Possui doutorado (2008) e pós-doutorado (2011) em Língua Hebraica, Literatura e Cultura Judaicas pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Título do trabalho de pós-doutorado: Lexicon Masoreticum: Léxico de Terminologia Massorética Tiberiense. Autor das seguintes obras: 1. Manual da Bíblia Hebraica: Introdução ao Texto Massorético - Guia Introdutório para a Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (São Paulo: Vida Nova, 3. ed. 2008) e 2. Tetragrama, Teônimos e Nomina Sacra: Os Nomes de Deus na Bíblia (Santo André: Kapenke, 2018). É tradutor das seguintes obras: 1. Antigo Testamento Interlinear Hebraico-Português, vols. 1-4 (Barueri: Sociedade Bíblica do Brasil, 2012, 2014, 2017 e 2020); 2. Crítica Textual da Bíblia Hebraica, de Emanuel Tov (Niterói: BV Books, 2017) e 3. A Bíblia Grega e Hebraica: Ensaios Reunidos sobre a Septuaginta, de Emanuel Tov (Niterói: BV Books, 2019). O autor tem participado como palestrante principalmente dos congressos da Associação Brasileira de Pesquisa Bíblica (ABIB) e do International Organization for Masoretic Studies (IOMS), este último realizado conjuntamente com o International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament (IOSOT) e com o World Congress of Jewish Studies (WCJS).
