Abstract: In discussions about the Liturgy, many identify the essence as the most radical of the thing, or as the origin of reality; fruit of an insufficiency built throughout the history of philosophy, pointed out by Xavier Zubiri. Zubiri, through a philosophy of sentient intelligence, shows that it is exactly the opposite, because reality is the most radical, and the essence is a moment of reality. First of all, it is the reality that shows itself, that gives itself, and the information realizes that the thing is already present. The essence is a constitutive system of all the necessary and sufficient notes for a substantive reality to be what it is. The Liturgy is a substantive reality; and every substantive reality has its essential notes, or, unfounded, that found the other in function of the real. But man can only achieve this reality in the real things with his sentient intelligence. Reality is transcendental, so everything that is in function of it is achieved in transcendentality. Then the transcendentality of the essence of the Liturgy consists of its internal structure as a function of that of suyo of the Liturgy.
