O artigo recolhe resultados de investigações arqueológicas sobre uma igreja construída inicialmente para celebrar o nascimento de Jesus vistos como capazes de problematizar a visão tradicional a respeito das origens do islã e da formação do Corão. Procura avançar para além do que a este respeito já foi sugerido, apontando possibilidades, advindas da conexão entre resultados da pesquisa arqueológica e dos estudos sobre textos constitutivos do livro sagrado muçulmano, para repensar o complexo cenário sociorreligioso no Sudoeste asiático nos tempos da Antiguidade tardia.Downloads
