Abstract

The 2022 Brazilian presidential election unfolded in a context characterized by an intense disinformation campaign, carried out mainly on social media sites. The aim was to identify the thematic frequency of disinformation, whose corpus of analysis consists of 1,872 publications collected from 9 highly relevant fact-checking portals in Brazil. Integrated Content Analysis was used. The analysis of the thematic frequencies of disinformation in the 2022 Brazilian elections shows that electoral fraud, which was the most prominent topic on fact-checking websites, sought to favor candidate Jair Bolsonaro and consolidate the idea that his disadvantage that year, indicated by voting intention polls, was the result of manipulation of the electoral process by the PT and allies of the Judiciary, who devised a scheme to alter the results of the electronic ballot box.
