Abstract

In 2022, the FIFA World Cup will take place in a Middle East country for the first time in history. However, Qatar hosting the most important soccer tournament of the planet is more than that. It is the apex of a cycle of investments made by the local government willing to export a positive image of the country abroad and dissociate it from the human rights violations committed by its own government.
