Resumen

Este estudio analizó la relación entre el rendimiento de las cadenas minoristas de alimentación en naciones desarrolladas y emergentes entre 2011 y 2019. Se utilizaron datos de 80 empresas minoristas de alimentación de 35 países, empleando modelos de regresión lineal de datos de panel. Se observó una fuerte correlación entre la cuota de mercado, la actividad operativa, el contexto económico del país de acogida (PIB per cápita e índice de Gini) y las prácticas de gestión sostenible. Los indicadores financieros y bursátiles se vieron influidos por las operaciones y el entorno económico, especialmente el PIB per cápita. La atención prestada a la sostenibilidad repercutió positivamente en la salud financiera de las empresas, y los comercios más pequeños de los países emergentes obtuvieron un mayor rendimiento de la inversión en comparación con los comercios más grandes.
