DISCURSIVE STRATEGIES OF THE BRAZILIAN CIVIL-MILITARY DICTATORSHIP (1964-1985): LEGITIMATION THROUGH SCHOOL

Exaggerated patriotism; the 'common good'; ideological patrolling; recourse to authority; civic-hours; the 'civic dates'. This grammar was part of the Brazilian school during the period of the civil-military dictatorship (1964-1985), materializing the discourse that made the state of exception legitimate in the belief of a large part of the population. Thus, the proposal of the text is to discuss the school as a means of operationalizing the discourse of the dictatorship in Brazil, mapping some connotations of this discourse in the educational field. Adopting an analytical-reconstructive methodology, the research is based on the analysis of an empirical corpus consisting of a set of twelve (12) textbooks used in Brazilian schools during the study period. As a conclusion, the text reinforces the idea that, through the school and the contents of textbooks, the dictatorship reinforced its discourse of legitimation.Downloads
